Řehka to become army chief after last formal hurdle cleared
Karel Řehka is set to become the head of the Czech Army after the lower house’s defence committee discussed his appointment on Friday. It was the last formal step required before Brigadier General Řehka can be named chief of staff by President Miloš Zeman. The minister of defence, Jana Černochová, discussed his appointment with the president on Wednesday and the government approved it later that day.
The army officer, who is 47, has up to now headed the National Cyber and Information Security Agency.
