Record Sunday increase in Covid cases recorded in Czechia
Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 12,889 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday, around 80 percent more than on the same day a week ago and the highest number for the day since the start of the pandemic.
Some 3,545 people have been reinfected with the virus, according to Ministry of Health data. The seven-day average incidence has reached a record 1,491 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Despite the surge in new cases, hospital admissions continue to fall. On Sunday, their number dropped to 1448, the lowest number since the end of October. The number of Covid related deaths also continues to drop. Last week, 130 people died with the coronavirus, which is 45 percent less than in the previous week.
