Record weekend increase in Covid cases recorded in Czechia
Laboratories in the Czech Republic registered 18,334 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, nearly twice as many as on the same day a week ago and the highest number on a weekend day since the start of the pandemic.
Some 2,235 people have been reinfected with the virus, according to Ministry of Health data. The seven-day average incidence has reached a record 1,438 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
Despite the growth in new cases, hospital admissions continue to fall. On Saturday, their number dropped to 1486. The overall number of people who died of Covid related complications since the start of the epidemic stands at 37,034.
