Record interest in this year’s Czech Press Photo contest
A record number of photographers have entered this year’s Czech Press Photo contest, the Czech News Agency reported. The jury reviewed 5,250 images from nearly 300 authors and announced nominations across nine categories. This year lacked a single dominant theme: photographers turned their lenses toward anti-government protests in Georgia and Serbia, a benzene train accident in Czechia, the wind-down of coal mining and campaigning in October’s general elections. The results of the competition will be announced in January of next year.
