Reconstruction of D1 motorway officially completed

The last reconstructed section of D1 motorway was officially opened on Saturday. The repair works on the Czech Republic’s oldest and busiest motorway leading from Prague to Brno were launched in 2013 and were originally scheduled to end in 2018.

Altogether 160 kilometres of the D1 have been repaired during the lengthy reconstruction, which cost nearly CZK 22 billion. According to Prime Minister Andrej Babiš, who attended the official opening near the village of Velký Beranov, the life expectancy of the renovated highway is 30 years.
