Rakušan to discuss proposed pay rise with security unions

Czech Interior Minister Vít Rakušan (Mayors and Indepentents) is meeting today with unions representing police and firefighters to discuss a proposed salary increase. Last week, Rakušan recommended raising average monthly pay for security personnel by 4,000 crowns starting July 1, primarily through a stabilization bonus. However, the government has not yet set a fixed date for the increase, which will be considered alongside a separate proposal for higher army wages. Police unions argue that a larger pay hike proposed by Defence Minister Jana Černochová (Civic Democratic Party) for soldiers could worsen existing pay disparities and drive security personnel to join the military.
