President Pavel appoints Dita Řepková as Constitutional Court judge
President Petr Pavel is due to appoint Dita Řepková as a judge of the Constitutional Court on Thursday at Prague Castle. She will replace David Uhlíř, whose term of office ended on Tuesday, on the fifteen-member panel. Ms. Řepková, who specialises in criminal law, was made a judge in April 2008 and previously worked at the Regional Court in Brno.
In November, Ms. Řepková presented herself to the Czech Senate, who approved her nomination as a conservative-minded judge. However, she would not be against the adoption of children by same-sex couples, nor in favour of constitutionally enshrining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. She has spoken out in favour of abolishing the minimum penalty for certain crimes.
