Prague Uprising recalled on 77th anniversary at Czech Radio building
A commemorative ceremony was held outside the Czech Radio building in the Czech capital on Thursday to mark the start of the Prague Uprising against years of Nazi oppression at the end of the Second World War.
It was a radio broadcast which sparked the rising and the building became the focus for some of the fiercest fighting over the following days in the city and surrounding countryside.
The event was attended by the speakers of the upper and lower chambers of Parliament, Miloš Vystrčil and Markéta Pekarová Adamová, Slovak Ambassador to Prague Rastislav Káčer as well as other public figures and witnesses of the events.
