Prague hit by massive electricity blackout

Large sections of Prague were hit by a massive electricity blackout on Thursday morning. Power supplies were cut off shortly before 9 am in the city centre and some other areas, in particular on the right bank of the Vltava River. The outage also knocked out tram lines and parts of Prague’s Metro system before power was gradually restored.

Officials blamed the blackout on technical issues at an electricity substation in the Chodov district.
