Czech music lovers will get a rare chance to hear remarkable Mongolian-style aliquot singing live over the next few days at Alikfest, a festival of New Age alternative music with performers from the Czech Republic and Germany.

Aliquot singing is created when a fundamental, constant tone is combined with high harmonics, and it's really hard to believe one person can produce such an amazing sound.

This singing style has its roots in many cultures, from ancient Mongolia to Jewish cabbalistic tradition to the prayers of Tibetan monks.

The opening concert on Thursday night takes place at the Church of Saints Simon and Jude on Prague's Dusni Street, and other venues include the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius in Karlin.
