Prague Castle sues psychiatrist over her speculation on president’s health

The Office of the President has sued psychiatrist and former human rights minister Džamila Stehlíková for the statements she made regarding Miloš Zeman’s health last October when he was in hospital. Mrs Stehlíková said that the president was likely likely suffering from delirium tremens caused by him abstaining from alcohol while in hospital, as well as liver cirrhosis and possible brain damage. The president’s lawyer confirmed that charges had been pressed to news site iDnes.cz, saying that the statements were “beyond all measures of decency”.

Mrs Stehlíková reacted by saying that she had only been speculating since the Office of the President had provided no information on Miloš Zeman’s diagnosis.
