Prague acquires historic Žižkov freight station for redevelopment
Prague officials and Czech Railways (ČD) signed a purchase agreement for the historic Žižkov freight station building and surrounding land for CZK 1.43 billion. The city plans to transform the functionalist landmark into a school, housing, cultural center, offices, and commercial spaces. The station, protected as a cultural monument since 2013, is located on unused land set to become a new district for up to 20,000 residents. Developers like Central Group, Sekyra Group, Finep, and Penta are already involved in residential projects, with the station set to provide essential public amenities.
