Police using drones to monitor traffic violations
Police in the Central Bohemia region have recently started monitoring the movement of cars using drones, in order to crack down on traffic violations such as speeding and failing to keep a safe distance. For the time being the operation is merely aimed at collecting data on the state of road safety, but eventually drivers will be fined for failing to keep a safe distance on the road. Unlike speeding, this will require an amendment to the traffic law. Traffic police say that failing to keep a safe distance is a frequent cause of accidents on Czech roads and is a rule disregarded by many drivers.
