Police investigate hacking of PM Fiala’s account
The person responsible for hacking Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s (Civic Democratic Party) account on the social network X could face up to three years in prison if convicted. The police have launched criminal proceedings, suspecting the offence of unauthorized access to a computer system and unauthorized interference with a computer system or data carrier, according to police spokesperson Eva Kropáčová. Hackers took over Fiala’s official account on Tuesday, posting fake messages. Similar false posts appeared on the account of the Spolu coalition, which includes Civic Democratic Party, Christian Democrats, and TOP 09 Party. The disinformation included claims about Russian attacks on Czech soldiers and retaliation for U.S. tariffs. Fiala stated the attack originated abroad.
