Pole vaulter Amálie Švábíková improves national record at Paris Olympics

Pole vaulter Amálie Švábíková improved her eleven-year-old Czech record by four centimetres at the Olympic final in Paris and finished fifth after clearing the bar at 480 cm, the best result for Czech athletes at this year's Games so far. World champion Nina Kennedy of Australia was the only athlete to clear 490 centimetres. “I came here wanting to beat my personal best and hoped to get into the top 6 and I did it all. I'm fifth and I'm leaving with a Czech record, a personal best. I'm really happy," Švábíková told reporters.
