Poland continues mining operations in Turów coal mine, despite ECJ order to stop

The Turów mine in Poland continues to operate, despite Friday's order by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) to stop mining activities immediately, Czech Television reported on Saturday. The ECJ decision came as a result of charges brought up by the Czech government, which claims that the mining activity on the border of the two countries is causing severe, potentially irreversible, damage. The ECJ has ordered mining activity to be stopped until it decides upon a verdict.

Environment Minister Richard Brabec reacted to the decision by saying that he was happy for Czech citizens and thanked all who have partaken in the legal battle.
