Czech government sends Poland draft agreement on Turow mine
The Prague government has sent Poland a draft proposal aimed at resolving a dispute over an open pit coal mine in Poland near the Czech border, the Czech minister of the environment, Richard Brabec, said. The two sides are due to start talks on Thursday.
In February the Czech Republic filed a lawsuit against Poland at the EU’s Court of Justice, saying that the Turow mine was contaminating water used by Czech communities near the border. The court last month ordered Poland to suspend mining at Turow but Poland ignored the ruling.
