PM wants sports commissioner’s head over illegal party

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has called on the government’s commissioner for sport, ANO MP Milan Hnilička, to step down after attending a party on Saturday that contravened Covid-19 restrictions. Mr. Babiš said the illegal gathering at a hotel in Teplice represented unacceptable arrogant fat cat behaviour. He told Novinky.cz that Mr. Hnilička should quit as head of the National Sports Agency and also give up his post as MP for the prime minister’s party.

Also present at Saturday’s event were former prime minister Jiří Paroubek, ex-MP and hockey player Jiří Šlégr, and ex-MP Petr Benda, who owns the venue.
