PM Babiš to reactivate Central Crisis Staff due to Covid-19 crisis
The government will reactivate the country’s Central Crisis Staff to deal with the coronavirus crisis, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš told the daily Deník on Friday. Mr Babiš said it should work as a platform for communication between the Ministry of Health and the regions.
The prime minister had initially refused to renew the work of the Central Crisis Staff’s work, despite calls from the Social Democrats and most of the opposition parties to do so, arguing that the activity of the Government Council for Health Risks was sufficient.
The government first activated the Central Crisis Staff on March 16, after the outbreak of coronavirus in the country. It is headed by Interior Minister Jan Hamáček.
