PM Babiš to meet Bavarian premier Söder in Munich

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO Party) is to meet Bavarian premier Markus Söder in Munich on Monday. The talks are expected to focus on deepening cooperation between Czechia and Bavaria, including in the areas of the economy, trade, energy and healthcare. Söder said last week that the meeting would be “extremely important”, particularly for Bavaria’s border regions. He has previously stated that Bavaria wants to continue strengthening relations with Czechia even under a new Czech government. Czech–Bavarian relations have long been close and friendly. Söder visited Prague in December 2024, when he met then Czech prime minister Petr Fiala (Civic Democratic Party) a to discuss cooperation in nuclear energy and cross-border projects, including bilingual education.
