The hugely popular Czech singer Petr Novák was born in Prague in September 1945, so would have turned 75 this year had he lived. A lover of the Beatles, he started out in 1960s bands such as George and Beatovens and Flamengo but found even more fame as a solo artist. Novák died at the age of only 51 after struggles with alcoholism but his songs live on, associated by many with a true golden age of Czech pop.
