Vocal great Marie Rottrová turns 80
The great Czech signer Marie Rottrová, whose career has spanned six decades, turned 80 on 13 November.
Marie Rottrová, who is from Ostrava, released her first album in 1968 and joined the band Flamengo the following year. Inspired by Aretha Franklin, Rottrová has styled herself as a soul singer throughout her long career and indeed released a compilation LP named Lady Soul.
Her biggest hits include Řeka lásky, Večerem zhýčkaná, Kůň bílý and Měli jsme se potkat dřív.
