Passenger numbers at Prague airport continue to grow
The number of passengers handled by Václav Havel Airport Prague keeps increasing. In the first half of 2018, the airport cleared a total of 7,463,975 passengers, a ten percent increase in annual terms.
According to Mr. Řehoř, the strengthening of capacities on existing lines as well as the start of operation on new air connections, including long-distance routes, are among the reasons behind the increasing number of passengers.
According to the newly released data, the highest number of passengers over the past six months travelled between Prague and the United Kingdom, counting both directions. Spain recorded the highest increase in the number of cleared passengers, with Barcelona being the fastest-growing destination.
The most popular destination among cities is London, which recorded a six-percent rise in passenger numbers on previous year, followed by Moscow, Amsterdam and Milan. So far this year, the busiest day at the Václav Havel Airport Prague was June 29, when the airport cleared 68,568 passengers.
Prague Airport has recently launched new air connections, including its second daily line to Dubai and a sixth daily line to Moscow, which started operating on July 1. On July 25, the England-based budget airline Easy Jet will start operating flights to London’s Southend airport. Other new connections are set to be launched during the 2018 winter season.
