Outgoing president pardons firm sentenced for manipulating public tender at Lány

Outgoing President Miloš Zeman has granted a pardon to the company Energie - stavební a báňská (ESB), which was banned by the court from participating in public procurements for three years for manipulating a CZK 200 million public tender at the Lány game park. ESB’s press spokesman Karel Samec said the firm did not ask for the pardon but appreciated the president’s decision, because they considered the verdict unfair.

The outgoing president has already granted pardon to the former head of the Lány Forestry Administration Miloš Balák, who was sentenced to three years in prison for manipulating the public tender. The Lány Forestry Administration is a contributory organization of the Office of the President of the Republic and Miloš Balák was a subordinate of the President's Chancellor Vratislav Mynář.
