Oscar winner Markéta Irglová competing to represent Czechia at Eurovision

Markéta Irglová, who, together with Glen Hansard, won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2008, is aiming to represent Czechia at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, the Czech News Agency reported on Monday. She will be competing against the girl band Vesna, singer Rodan and Czech-Armenian musician Maella.

Viewers will get to vote on who they want to represent their country from January 30 to February 6. This year’s Eurovision Song Contest is set to take place in the United Kingdom in May.
