Opposition fails for third time to push for removal of lower house speaker Okamura

Czech opposition parties have failed for a third consecutive day to put a motion to dismiss lower house speaker Tomio Okamura (Freedom and Direct Democracy Party) on Parliament's agenda. Opposition MPs object to his handling of the debate on abolishing television and radio licence fees. They say Okamura unfairly restricted speaking time and scheduled a vote for early Saturday morning before the debate had even begun. On Thursday, the governing coalition of ANO, Freedom and Direct Democracy and Motorists blocked the proposal without a vote. Okamura previously dismissed the opposition's objections as lies and attacks.
