Open mills day lets visitors explore historic Czech watermills and windmills

Dozens of water and windmills across the Czech Republic are opening their doors to the public on Saturday as part of Open Mills Day. The event marks the 909th anniversary of the creation of the millers' emblem, dating back to May 13th 1116. Visitors can tour mills, watch demonstrations, and learn about their role in human history and technological development.

Inspired by similar international events, the initiative attracted over fifty mills and hundreds of visitors last year. Interactive maps on vodnimlyny.cz and povetrnik.cz help enthusiasts find and explore more than 12,000 watermills and 500 windmills across the country.
