Ondrová wins pole vault gold at European U23 Championships
Czech pole vaulter Viktorie Ondrová claimed the gold medal at the European U23 Athletics Championships in Bergen, Norway. The 20-year-old athlete from Prague’s Olymp club improved her personal best three times during the final, eventually clearing 4.45 metres. It was enough to secure her first major title and the third Czech medal at the championships, following Karolína Maňasová’s sprint gold and Petra Sičaková’s javelin silver. Ondrová moved up to seventh place in the Czech all-time rankings after adding 13 centimetres to her personal record. In the men’s 10,000 metres race walk, Jaromír Morávek finished sixth.
