Oldřich’s Oak in Peruc named Czech Tree of the Year 2025

Oldřich’s Oak from Peruc in the Louny region has been named Czech Tree of the Year 2025. The pear tree from Uherské Hradiště came second, and a willow near Beroun placed third. The competition, organized by the Partnership Foundation, received nearly 38,000 votes. The winning oak, said to be about 1,000 years old, even though oficcial estimate is about 800 years. It is linked to the legend of Duke Oldřich and Božena, who met beneath its branches. The oak will now represent Czechia in the European Tree of the Year competition. All three top trees will receive expert care and conservation support.
