Northern lights visible over Czechia, may appear again tonight
A strong display of the northern lights was visible over parts of Czechia early this morning, the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) reported, sharing photos taken in the Krkonoše Mountains. Meteorologists say another aurora may appear tonight, though weather conditions are expected to be less favorable. The phenomenon, caused by charged particles from solar eruptions interacting with Earth’s atmosphere, is rare in Central Europe. According to ČHMÚ, a powerful geomagnetic storm is under way and could intensify, but visibility will depend on cloud cover and fog, with the best chances in higher altitudes and mountain areas.
