Temperatures in Czechia drop to below -14°C overnight
Temperatures in Czechia dropped sharply overnight, falling below minus 14 degrees Celsius in mountain areas. Eight of 169 weather stations with records going back at least 30 years registered new minimum temperature records for November 7. The lowest reading, minus 14.2 degrees, was recorded near Jizerka in the Jizera Mountains, in the north of the country.
Records were also broken at lower altitudes, including in Čáslav and Průhonice near Prague. The Czech Hydrometeorological Institute says frost is expected to continue over the weekend, with temperatures falling to between zero and minus four degrees, and locally as low as minus seven in valleys. Milder mornings are expected from Tuesday as cloud cover increases.
