Power restored to Prague after outage affects 70,000 households

Power has been restored across Prague following a major outage that affected around 70,000 electricity supply points, mainly on the left bank of the Vltava River.

Energy distributor Pražská energetika (PRE) reported faults at two substations, Prague Červený Vrch and Prague Západ. The outage affected Prague 5 and 6 as well as the Lesser Town district, disrupting several tram lines.

The blackout also forced the Chamber of Deputies to temporarily suspend its session. The Central Military Hospital, Motol University Hospital and Homolka Hospital were also affected but continued operating on backup power. All three hospitals and the lower house have since been reconnected to the grid, and parliamentary proceedings have resumed.
