President Pavel calls for united European approach to Ukraine peace talks

Czech President Petr Pavel has called for greater European unity in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking after a summit of the Visegrad Group in Slovakia on Thursday, Pavel said the four presidents largely agreed on the need to avoid rewarding the aggressor and maintain sanctions against Russia. However, he warned that Europe's insufficient coordination was undermining its credibility. Pavel said Europe must clarify its negotiating position and who would represent it in peace talks. The presidents of Czechia, Slovakia, Poland and Hungary also adopted a joint declaration supporting continued political, financial, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine.
