ČEZ says Dukovany nuclear contract has fixed price and timetable
The head of Czech energy company ČEZ, Daniel Beneš, says the contract with South Korea’s KHNP to build two new nuclear reactors at Dukovany has a fixed price and timetable, with penalties for delays or breaches. His comments follow news that KHNP ended negotiations with a Korean construction consortium over disagreements on key contract terms. Beneš described the development as significant but said there was currently no indication that the construction schedule was threatened. The project, estimated to cost 407 billion crowns, is Czechia’s largest planned investment. Construction of the first reactor is scheduled to begin in 2029, with completion expected in 2036.
