Christian Democrats do best among parties in local elections
Various local associations of independent candidates took the most seats in municipal elections held around the Czech Republic on Friday and Saturday, a phenomenon seen every time such votes are held.
The most successful national political party were the Christian Democrats, ahead of the Mayors and Independents, government leaders ANO, who came first in six of 13 regional cities, and the Civic Democrats. Turnout was 47 percent.
