Czechs head to polls in municipal and Senate elections
Voters across Czechia are casting their ballots on Friday in municipal elections and the first round of Senate elections. Nearly 190,000 candidates are competing for approximately 62,000 seats on local councils, while 154 candidates are contesting 27 seats in the upper house of Parliament.
Polling stations opened at 2 pm on Friday and will close at 10 pm. Voting will resume on Saturday from 8 am until 2 pm. Results from smaller municipalities are expected on Saturday evening, while complete results may not be available until early Sunday morning.
The second round of Senate elections will take place next weekend.
