Czech state monuments open to public free of charge

State-owned castles, chateaux and other heritage sites across the Czech Republic will open their doors free of charge to visitors on Sunday.

The open door day is taking place at 106 sites administered by the National Heritage Institute. Visitors must have reserved a ticket in advance for a specific time or tour.

In Prague, only the gardens below Prague Castle will be open free of charge. Invalidovna, another National Heritage Institute property, has been closed since August for reconstruction.

Demand for the free tours has been high, with most already reserved.
