Hrzánský Palace reopens to highlight its artistic history

Hrzánský Palace in Prague’s Hradčany district is reopening to the public on Saturday, with this year’s tours focusing on its artistic history. The government-owned palace was associated with painters Ferdinand Engelmüller and Jan Slavíček during the 20th century. Visitors can see its ceremonial rooms as well as Slavíček’s studio, where he worked from 1937 until his death in 1970. The building has a much longer history: medieval architect Petr Parléř once owned a house on the site, while future Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk briefly lived there in the late 19th century. Guided tours are free and run throughout Saturday.
