Invasive Asian hornet spotted repeatedly in Central Bohemia

An Asian hornet was repeatedly spotted in Liběchov in the Mělník area in July and early August, according to the Czech Nature Conservation Agency. The Agency says the invasive species poses a significant threat, particularly to honeybee colonies and wild insects. So far, efforts to find other specimens or a nest have been unsuccessful.

The Czech Nature Conservation Agency is asking the public to help report sightings of the species, its spokeswoman Karolína Šůlová told the Czech News Agency.
