Heavy rain in Czechia sees fire services called out hundreds of times

Fire services in the Czech Republic were called out 715 times as thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain hit the country on Friday and into Saturday night. The highest number of call-outs was seen in the Central Bohemian and South Bohemian Regions and in Prague.

Along the country's borders with Germany and Austria, the storms were accompanied by gusts of wind reaching up to 70 kilometres per hour. The Botič and Rokytka streams in Prague reached the first level of flood alert, the Czech Hydro-Meteorological Institute said.
