Heavy rain raises river levels to flood alert stage in Beskydy foothills

Intense rainfall in the northeast of Czechia has caused several smaller rivers to rise, with two reaching the second flood alert level near the Beskydy mountains. As of Monday morning, flood warnings were in effect on the Lučina River in Horní Domaslavice and the Stonávka River in Těrlicko. First-level alerts were issued for other streams in the Frýdek-Místek, Karviná, and Vsetín regions. Some areas in the Jeseníky and Beskydy ranges recorded over 100 millimetres of rainfall in 24 hours. Warnings for further heavy rain remain in place through Monday evening.
