Satoranský named Czech basketball player of the year for ninth time

Tomáš Satoranský has been named the best Czech basketball player of the past season for the ninth time, extending his record as the most successful player in the history of the award. Among women, 22-year-old centre Emma Čechová won the award for the first time. She signed with Minnesota in May to play in the WNBA.

Satoranský left Barcelona after four years and will play for Hapoel Tel Aviv next season. Čechová suffered a torn knee ligament at the start of the WNBA season and missed the rest of the campaign.

The awards ceremony was held in Mariánské Lázně on Saturday evening.
