Krejčíková climbs to 26th in rankings after first title in two years
Barbora Krejčíková has climbed six places in the world rankings to 26th, after winning tennis’s Athens Open on Sunday. The Czech, who is 30, overcame Athens-born Maria Sakkari 7-6 6-3 for the ninth WTA singles title of her career, and her first since she lifted the Wimbledon title two years ago.
Krejčíková’s career-best singles ranking was second, while she was at one time ranked number one in doubles, where she first found major success.
