Czech TV, Czech Radio staff to go on 24-strike on June 22

Employees of Czech Television and Czech Radio are set to go on a 24-hour strike over planned changes to the funding of public service media on Monday June 22, a spokesperson said on Friday.

The government is planning to do away with the licence fee system under which the stations are funded and place them under the state budget. Officials say the latter system is in place in many EU countries, but critics say the change could expose the broadcasters to political pressure.
