Student gets suspended sentence for school shooting threats

A Prague court has given a 20-year-old man a five-month suspended prison sentence for threatening to carry out a school shooting and expressing approval of the 2023 mass shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University. The court also ordered a 20-month probation period, during which he will be supervised by a probation officer and undergo psychological counselling. Prosecutors said the defendant repeatedly threatened classmates and brought weapons such as knives and a telescopic baton to school. He denied the charges and has appealed the verdict.
