Germany pledges additional €300 million for Czech-led ammunition initiative

Germany will contribute a further €300 million ($345 million) to the Czech-led ammunition initiative for Ukraine, German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said during a meeting with his Czech counterpart, Jaromír Zůna.

According to Pistorius, the funding will be enough to purchase around 50,000 rounds of ammunition for Ukraine.

Pistorius called the Czech ammunition initiative an important tool for supporting Ukraine as it continues to defend itself against Russia’s invasion for a fifth year, and thanked Prague for maintaining the program.

The Czech Republic launched the initiative in 2024 to help Ukraine counter Russia’s artillery advantage on the battlefield.
