PM Babiš proposing cap on fuel margins amid rising prices

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš is proposing capping fuel retailers’ margins in response to the sharp rise in fuel prices. Following talks with Finance Minister Alena Schillerova on Friday, he said margin regulation is one of several possible solutions. The government is due to discuss the matter at Monday's cabinet meeting.

Fuel prices in the Czech Republic have climbed to their highest level in about three and a half years since the start of the war in the Middle East. According to data from CCS, the average price of Natural 95 petrol rose by 2.40 crowns over the past week to 41.44 crowns per litre, while diesel increased by 4.75 crowns to an average of 47.90 crowns per litre.
