PM Babiš expects extraordinary security steps as council weighs repatriations

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) says Czechia is likely to adopt extraordinary security measures in response to the escalating crisis in the Middle East. Speaking ahead of a meeting of the State Security Council, he said the scope of the steps would depend on proposals from the Interior Ministry and police. The council is also discussing repatriations. Seventy-nine Czechs are being moved from Israel to Egypt and are expected to fly home on Tuesday. Others are waiting in Amman and Muscat, with flights by Smartwings and possible Czech government aircraft under consideration. Babiš said airspace closures are limiting options but stressed no Czechs are currently reported in direct danger.
