Fewer people started small businesses in Czechia in 2025
Some 90,089 people started doing self-employing/small business in Czechia in 2025, 1,405 fewer than in the record year of 2024, according to data from Dun & Bradstreet. Despite the slowdown, the total number of registered entrepreneurs rose by 40,458 in 2025 to just over 2.02 million. This was the second-largest annual increase in the past decade. At the same time, 49,631 people closed their trade licences, the lowest figure in four years. Dun & Bradstreet estimates that only about 56 percent of registered self-employed are actively doing business, with the rest holding inactive licences.
