Number of registered firearms in Czechia rises above 1.1 million
The number of registered firearms in Czechia continued to rise last year, surpassing 1.1 million for the first time, according to police statistics. At the end of 2025, police recorded 1,104,047 firearms, up more than 30,000 year on year. Firearm numbers have been increasing steadily since 2016 and crossed the one-million mark in 2022. The biggest rise was in firearms requiring a permit, such as pistols and revolvers. The number of gun licence holders stood at 324,623, with nearly 90 percent men. A new firearms law that took effect this year introduced new weapon categories and digitalised gun permits.
